Not the Best of Weeks, But Not Too Shabby

Hello everyone!

I’m updating early this week because I will be spending the three day weekend at Maren’s house with Karin and some other friends. I’m really excited, but also very nervous, so I wanted my attention to be on the fun parts of this weekend rather than writing my blog about it halfway through. So let’s get started, shall we?

Monday was horribly cold. I don’t think either Monday or Tuesday ever went above freezing temperature wise. It was awful to walk to Herpetology, and I had to repeat it later for BioChem, which was even worse. We’re still talking about frogs, and this week in Chem we’re talking about Lipids, which I feel very comfortable with my knowledge of, which is nice. I spent the rest of the day under blankets either doing homework or writing with Maren. We’re over 1,750 pages (as of today- February 14th) into our crossover story and things are getting intense.

Tuesday was even colder and I literally think we moved to Antarctica. I was unable to get warm for the rest of the day after getting back from classes. I only had institute and nutrition that day, and both were pretty boring. We’re talking more about every bad thing that happened to the Saints which still makes me upset, but we talked about some miracles too, which is better than nothing. I didn’t have Epi so I just went home and worked on stuff again (I wanted the weekend free). However, in other news, I went to the RS activity, which was watching a chick-flick (ugh, gag) called Forever My Girl or something like that. It was so cringy, but I’m trying to do better about going to church activities, so I did it. By the end though, I was exhausted.

This exhaustion carried over into Wednesday, which was just a giant mess. It seemed like one thing after another sent my anxiety sky rocketing. Herpetology was awesome, but it was hard to pay attention because they announced our lab quiz would be next week and I was ashamed of how I had mis-identified things in the labs previous despite my confidence. Our experiment in Chem lab forced us to wait for 30 minutes and involved using electricity. In that lab I almost ruined our whole groups experiment with my shaking hands. After that I found out that we had to wait for the TA to send us our results, so I couldn’t work on my lab report and have it done with (he still hasn’t emailed me about it either so who knows when he’ll send it out. Hopefully soon). I forgot lunch at home and I could barely stand being in Chemistry class. In Herp Lab we did Frog Identification which I sucked at and will be on the test next week. I can get to the genus, but there are so many species and the words weren’t making sense and I felt ready to cry. When I got home I was about ready to flip out. Maren had fallen asleep, so I took a shower and curled up in a ball on my bed to try not and cry. Eventually I emerged from my cocoon and Maren did her best to try and help, though ultimately Allie was the real MVP of the night. We watched Swan Princess as she rubbed my neck and back while Maren was in the room. It helped a lot.

Thursday was probably my most normal day this week, and started off on a good note. I felt so much better from the night before that I felt ready to face the day. I had institute, which like I shared before, was about more bad things happening, but we ended the lesson early to go to Lunch for a Bunch (Brother Ardern is weird). It was street tacos and flan this week. Maren apparently has never had flan, and she liked the stuff out of a cup which was weird and gross. The street tacos were decent, but not anywhere close to the ones from that place in Ogden or from the taco stand that used to be by the library. I saw Rafael at Lunch for a Bunch too, which was awesome. When I caught up with him in class later that day he said he saw me too and that next time we ran into each other (Maren told me to tell him I saw him at RIL last Friday) I should say hi. He said we were friends XD. It made me feel good. We had a guest lecture in Epi that day. He had a stutter but he talked a lot about different types of diseases. It was interesting but super depressing.

Friday (aka Today) has been interesting. Religion in Life was the media person for the Church and he was okay with his devotional, but it didn’t vibe with me. Then again, I was really hyper and the seats were uncomfortable so I had a hard time paying attention. Chemistry was pretty boring too (once again, I feel pretty comfortable with lipids and how they work, so no sweat hopefully). My mom sent me Crumbl cookies and Pizza, which made my night. I’ve been writing for most of the night too because it’s fun and we won’t be able to do it this weekend.

So yeah, that’s been this week. Talk to y’all next week and wish the best for me this weekend!
