Binge Week... Oh Boy

Hello everyone. This blog might be a little short and to the point, but I currently have a migraine right now and want to kind of just get this over with and update you guys on this week. Good news is that this week definitely made up for the last two in productivity and I was able to get a lot done, which helped my stress even if this week has been a bit of a downer.

Monday: Was surprisingly productive. I mean, the internet went out halfway through my GTA meeting, but I was able to set up a hotspot so it wasn’t a big deal, and I didn’t have any other issues. The lab itself was super detailed, but overall, extremely boring so prep was fairly easy—even if it was time-consuming. EvoDevo was thankfully super easy, since our discussion on Wednesday was about Novelty and she didn’t want to influence our thoughts coming in since it’s a pretty controversial topic in the EvoDevo field. After that, Maren and I put some Hermitcraft on while we wrote and I suddenly got a huge burst of inspiration for one of my own projects. This led to me writing one and a half chapters throughout the day on my own document while listening to the RSlash Podcast, and almost ten pages total on the three stories I’m working on with Maren. So yeah, I count that as a pretty dang productive day. And I had that all done before Lab even started—it was boring and the normal, though I had some questions asked at least, which is good.

Tuesday: I had a lot more questions from that morning’s lab, and they were good ones too, which was nice. I’m starting to feel more at ease with the TA thing, so maybe that means things are looking up? I also found a great Naruto fanfiction, and kind of dived into Naruto when I wasn’t writing that day either. Neuroendo was super boring, and I think I zoned out for part of class (oops), which is ironic considering we talked about circadian rhythms and sleep cycles. I thought it was especially ironic considering the time change has left my sleeping schedule on whack. The Seminar was a little bit more interesting, though they were talking about canopy soil and pollinators (bees, gosh darn it, I can’t escape from the stupid bee people here), but it was cool to have two speakers instead of one this time, so that’s something. Nothing else really happened that day except that Maren’s family got two kittens: Zephyr and Apollo (the names fit for the first, but not the second in my opinion, but oh well) and we got to look at cute pictures of them throughout the day and watch the videos Anna sent us.

Wednesday: I didn’t have my meeting with the ESL student that morning, which was a nice start. It gave me a lot of time to work my way through three scientific articles (personal reading, EvoDevo reading, and something for Sara), and I was able to start on my Neuroendo paper. EvoDevo class was interesting this week. Molly had to bail for a seminar she was hosting, which is understandable, and the discussion was really interesting. I had to use a hotspot again when the internet was being finicky—it’s gone out a lot this week. But once that was done, it was time to prep for the game night. We invited Karin, Tim and Allie over(who brought store cookies—one of which was snickerdoodles and they were lovely), and Maren let Sam know about it so he was there. We played the game that Sam brought (it was okay but I just don’t really like board games or many games really) and when he had to bail for a presidency meeting, and Tim and Karin had to go and talk about wedding flowers with someone, Allie and I just got to chill and hang out, which was nice. I’ve missed having her around—all of them really. It was kind of just fun to talk and stuff. We eventually started playing Among Us, and it was a lot of fun because we’re all chaotic and Maren called the Discord crew to join us if they were available. Allie and I both suck at being imposter and were partners on one round which was hilarious and horribly unproductive. I even managed to play some BotW with Tim for a bit before calling it an early night since I was still wacked from time change.

Thursday: This was definetly the slump day of the week. Intro to Grad Studies was frustrating because the assignment wasn’t working out without permissible access, and our guest speaker had internet problems. Neuroendo was still boring and was focusing on the chemistry behind stuff which is even worse. I finished my paper right after class when I got the word that Maren and Emily needed to go pick up another kitten for their sister. We ended up driving to Clarkston to grab her—her name is Artemis and she is cute and fluffy but I love her—but I was dying for the rest of the night because allergies are awful—I blame antibiotics just a little bit. Sam came over that night too, but I just did what homework I could without waiting on people to do their part, which was annoying. So yeah, Thursday wasn’t the best.

Friday: Friday was by far the most productive day. I woke up early (thanks again time change) and got all of my grading and TA duties done before eleven in the morning. Maren and Emily left to go visit their family’s new house with the kitty around 1:00 pm or so, and I ended up going shopping by myself just to get some air, which helped a lot. By the time I was back, they were packing to leave, so with one last goodbye to the adorable kitty, I had the apartment to myself. I then proceeded to deep clean the areas that kitty had stayed to try and rid the area of dandruff and fir, vacuumed the whole house, did the laundry to get rid of the cat fur on towels and clothes and the like, and then worked my way through the dishes. I’ll admit, I was kind of lost as to what I should do when I finished my list of cleaning spree chores and homework after that point, so I kind of just… chilled. I was so wired and wanted to do something productive that it felt weird. I eventually went over to Karin’s apartment to hang out with her and Tim, and we talked about Phantom of the Opera while she made quesadillas and Tim played BotW. It was a lot of fun, and helped past the time that would otherwise be spent in my apartment alone. I came back in time to chat with my family—which was a lot of fun up until Mason started talking about last names vs first name propagation and I was out. It took forever to fall asleep that night, which sucked because that led me to today, where I’ve only had three hours of sleep and ended up with a migraine.

So yeah, that’s been this week. I have a little bit of homework to do that opened up this morning on Canvas, and then I’m home free for the day… With literally no more homework to work on. I still want to do something, but I just… ran out of things to do thanks to the productive week. Hopefully it will all work out and I won’t go crazy. But yeah…

Talk to you all next week!
