A Good Way to Ease in Right After Spring Break

Hello everyone! It’s been a while—sorry about that. I’ve been pretty busy here at college, so I’ve been a little lax in writing on the blog. I just don’t think about it when the weekend hits because my brain is so tried of focusing on stuff that it doesn’t want to do it anymore. Thankfully, this week was really chill all things considering, so I was actually able to remember and write down what happened… for one day. XD. Yeah, I’m out of practice, but maybe it will be easier. Bear with me until then?

Spring break was a welcome break, even though I still had to attend my classes on Zoom due to the vet school having a different break than we do. But hey, at least that means I didn’t have class at all this week. Plenty of time to chill and relax with the family, and we even got to see the new Batman movie, which was decently good. I enjoyed their depiction of early Batman at least. And visiting Hobby Lobby with Mom was loads of fun.

Monday was not a great start, and kind of was a sucky day in general, but not for the usual reasons. I woke up early thanks to a panic attack in my sleep again—I hate those. It’s very not fun to wake up having a panic attack for now clear reason. The TA meeting was business as usual, and no one came to office hours, so it was pretty chill… if it weren’t for the two bees trapped in the office hours room. I was anxious the entire time that they would come near me, but they didn’t which was nice. Lunch was alright. I worked on research for my immunology paper, and afterwards headed back into the biology building where I had bug incident two. A giant beetle (bigger than a quarter) somehow crawled up onto the back of my computer screen without me knowing it. It didn’t even realize it was there until it crawled out right next to my hand. I got really spooked by that and just kind of… put the computer down on the ground and let it walk off, though that took a while. It didn’t help that I had to teach after that, and by the time that labs ended, I had a headache and was pretty worn out mentally.

Tuesday was slightly better. I set an appointment with a doctor so I can see about getting some SRIs which was pretty stressful. Anxiety was decently bad all day, though I think that was more a carryover from the previous day. I went shopping to get milk, before spending the rest of the day chugging away at research for my vet paper again. I read over ten sources and annotated them, so I was pretty exhausted and actually conked out for a really long nap which was sorely needed after a not so great night’s rest. Later that night I was able to go and visit Maren for a little bit, which was nice, though we didn’t do much but work on homework together and chat.

Wednesday was purely set aside for slicing. I woke up really early again, so I headed up on campus early, hoping to get three brains done, but… that didn’t happen. My back was hurting after the normal two and I thought it was a bad idea to try and push it to three brains, so I just ended up finishing earlier than usual. I spent the rest of the day finishing up on finding research for my paper. Once the mind-numbing amount of prep work was done, though, I was ready for a break, so I played on Minecraft for a little while after.

Thursday was nice and easy. I played Minecraft before work had to happen because I still needed a brain break. I left to slice for a while… only to forget all my teaching materials at the apartment that I needed for later that night. Thankfully, Kenzie was able to drop them by the lab for me on her way out of town, so it all worked out and I didn’t have to worry about it. I attended a Biosafety meeting, which was pretty straightforward and got another brain done. There was an hour or so before I had to start teaching that I used to chip away at the intro for my paper and then I was in the lab getting ready for my class. Have I mentioned how awesome my Thursday class is? It’s nice when I can make a mistake and they all laugh, and boy did I make plenty of mistakes that night. We were laughing for a good five to ten minutes of the lab for my section, and a few more for Madi’s. It was great and not as stressful as the labs on Monday. Overall, a nice way to end off the week. I could pass on the headache that grew into something really close to a migraine though. Medicine wasn’t working and that sucked to try and sleep with.

Friday was headache central. I don’t know what I did, but I had to pretty consistently monitor when I could take my next ibuprofen for the first half of the day. I got my paper done though, which was awesome. That took me until around 5 in the afternoon, and I was just so brain tired, that I ended up ordering a pizza so I didn’t have to bother with making any food, and after that it was back to Minecraft. And this time, more people were on the server. I ended up playing on that until around 9:30 and then went to bed to see if that would fight off the last bits of my headache.

And now it’s Saturday. I’m hanging out with Maren since Sam is away until the evening (he has some 24 hour computer science thing that’s going on and was gone last night which left her a little spooked) and she was feeling a little lonely. We’re probably going to play some more Minecraft once she’s done with her quiz, which is what she’s working on right now. We’re just chatting for the most part though, so… yeah. Chill Saturday which is appreciated before things get busy again next week. That being said, until then, bye!
