A Nice Relaxing Day

Hello!

I'm not going to lie, today was pretty chill, so this might be a short post.

I had a nice muffin for breakfast (courtesy of Costco and Mom) before heading to Animal Physiology. We're still learning about metabolism, which was cool at first until we started getting into the chemistry of it. I am still not great when it comes to the Kreb's Cycle, or any of that stuff, so it was boring. However, we did get to learn about snake digestion. Which is awesome. We even watched some videos of snakes eating capybaras in South America. Everyone was really grossed out except for me. I was just smiling while watching the snake jaw unhinge. Looking back, I might have a problem. The things that interest me are a bit creepy.

After that, I had fifteen minutes to get to my first lab for Animal Physiology. It was a blast. We have assigned groups, and my teacher is the grad student for the snake lab stuff. I got to talk to her after class about how her research is going. She hasn't done any cross sections yet but might be doing them tomorrow. Lab today was okay. We just learned pipetting techniques so we won't be a bunch of noobs next week. And I got out early, which was nice, because that let me have time to eat my peanut butter and banana (also the not-nutella that Mom found) sandwich before my Vertebrates class.

Sadly, it seems I am cursed. I have another football player in my lab. Thankfully he isn't the quarterback this time. So we'll see how that goes.

Oddly enough, Principles of Vertebrates was rather tame today. We talked about embryology, which I'm not really interested in, but I still participated a fair amount and was able to ask some questions about the neural crest and the space that eventually becomes the main body cavity. I'll spare you guys the details though. We also watched a few videos of salamander and chicken eggs slowly turning into embryo's so we could understand the steps. It was very helpful, especially since I don't always understand the diagrams in the book. Another fun thing is that I am now the only undergraduate student in the class. The two boys that were there have officially dropped. We are now a class of six girls five of which who work as graduate students for the teacher. This will make things interesting. Dr. Salvitzsky asked if I was going to drop the class too, but I told him "Not a chance. This class is my favorite so far". That made him smile, so I'll count that as a win.

After that, I waited around campus so I could walk back with Maren (her class ends a half hour after mine so it wasn't that bad). I've just been at the dorms ever since. I had some sausage and potatoes for breakfast, and worked on homework for a while. I've been itching to write recently, so I might be working on Bloodstained until I'm ready for bed, but we'll see how my concentration is when I get to that point.

Talk to you all later. Bye!
