... I May Have a (Deserved) Pettiness Problem

Hello, everybody. This week was… eventful to say the least, so let’s get started, yeah?

Monday was alright, we still had people over, which caused a little bit of an issue, but it was okay. I was just able to ignore it for the most part. I actually had someone come to my office hours this Monday though, after the TA meeting, which was nice. I spent a little bit of extra time on campus to avoid going home, but eventually returned in time to watch the Tommyinnit stream. He died. Tommy actually died. It was so weird, and it messed with me for like the rest of the day—especially with all the reaction streams later on. I also, of course, watched my Selenium and Vitamin E lecture and participated in the Lab Meeting, but I was mostly absorbed in the Dream SMP stuff, so yeah…

Anyways, Tuesday was probably the roughest day of the week? The amount of people interaction finally got to me, which gave me a really rough start to the day. I full on locked myself in my room just to avoid people, then left an hour earlier than usual to just have some space. I got really overstimulated and near tears a couple of times. But the gap of time on campus before class started was good. I had some time to write and read some Harry Potter stuff—the usual comforting mechanism is a good fall back. It gave me a little bit of a buffer before I had to learn about Hot Start PCR, which was simple enough and really helped me understand what was going on later this week in lab. After that, I had the labs I was teaching which was… stressful. The students this week were taking their lab exams, which means they were stressed, and we were also teaching them lower body muscles and suturing, so the labs were long on top of that. I almost snapped at the UAs I was working with, but that was more form people burn-out than anything they were doing, so I felt really bad. This all kind of steam-rolled after labs were done to the point where I called Mom to help myself calm down and then hid in my room for the rest of the night as well, only to have the Arby’s incident happen. I don’t feel like writing about the Arby’s incident at the moment, so I guess I’ll just be incredibly vague here and say that Meagan is a life saver and no one can say otherwise.

Comparatively, Wednesday was a lot easier. I had to talk with Maren about the whole visitor situation, and I’m not sure if anything was fixed, but we talked about strategies to avoid another weekend like this last one so hopefully it will get better. I’m just… really not looking forward to next Thursday, since that’s when another set of visitors is coming. I really hope I don’t explode, and maybe it’s just today that I’m feeling crappy about it, but I don’t want to deal with anything, ugh. Anyways, I went and did homework for a while after the talk to calm down before emerging to go grocery shopping, which went nice. I then got to come and hang out in the living room and play on Minecraft for the rest of the day. I’m not ashamed of it. I’d had a crappy day on Tuesday, so I deserved some chill time on Minecraft.

Thursday was another chill day, even if stuff went down on the Dream SMP. I watched my (technically Wednesday) lecture on Iron, as well as a lot of youtube and wrote some stuff before heading off to my Animal Molecular Biology lab, which was really short and simple because of the lecture on Tuesday. I was then able to catch the next Tommy stream. Tommy is alive and Wilbur may or may not be evil, though he’s definitely coming back to the story soon, which sounds interesting. But yeah, that stopped right before teaching lab again, which went fine, and I felt like it was a lot better than Tuesday, even with the major headache that hit me in the middle of it. After that I came home in time to catch Tales of the SMP, which I was right! Karl should not trust the narrator I was right, the others were wrong, muahahahaha. Sorry, not sorry, everyone thought I was being paranoid about it, but I was right and there is some dark force in the in between that’s hiding the truth and oh my gosh I need the next one to come out soon since it should hold more answers, gah.

Anyways, Friday was alright. I watched my lectures on Copper and Zinc, before kind of nose-diving back into Once Upon a Time for a while, and then heading off to my meeting with Sara. The meeting went great. We bought the supplies that we’ll need for immunohistochemistry which we can hopefully start within the next couple of weeks, though we have to find a time when both schedules will allow it since it is my first go at it, and she wants to be there in case something goes wrong or lop-sided. What was funny was the fact that she locked herself out of her office, so we had a little adventure between checking out the physiology course she’s having Riley set up, messing around with the mesh wells that we received today, and generally just having a good time talking about how we were going to do stuff. It was a lot of fun, and I can’t wait for my project to start, even though it will probably be a huge amount of effort on my part and will take some finagling schedule-wise. Anyways, I came home just in time for Maren to leave for her date night, so Emily and I ordered pizza and just hung out while Maren was gone. I felt like it was a very nice evening, and we even watched some CorpseHusband Among Us videos to laugh at.

So yeah. That was my week. Very bad start, but it ended alright. I’m just waiting on my laundry right now, which should be done a couple minutes after I post this. I don’t have many plans for the rest of the day, but given my week… I’ll probably still be a little petty. It’s been hard to not be petty towards Maren at the moment—don’t know what kind of person that makes me—but honestly I feel it’s kind of deserved? I mean, is it petty if I wash every dish but the ones that she’s put in the sink? I feel like that’s fair, since I’m always doing the dishes. Is it petty that I got pizza that she can most definitely not eat? Nope. I paid for it. Have I been occasionally ignoring her? Yes, but that’s because I’m having fun on my own…

Yeah, I’m being a little petty. Maybe I should be nicer? Eh, I’ll figure that out later. Anyways, talk to you all next week. Bye!
