First Date and a Really Low Energy Week?

Hello everyone! I’ve been procrastinating working on this, so I suppose it’s time for me to buckle down and actually work through this. Bear with me if it is lackadaisical compared to previous posts. I’m just really not feeling up to much today.

Monday was fine. I still feel really, really dumb in my WILD class due to the R involved in it. Though I was able to chat with Caroline which was loads of fun. After that was all said and done, I went home and worked on my neuro class work and research. I had lab meeting that day as well, with Matthew leading it. He mostly used the meeting to practice his Hansen Retreat presentation about the genetic work he’s been doing on the coyote mRNA in the brain to see if we can use dog samples for comparison. It was actually pretty chill, and I don’t feel as awkward around him now which is nice. After that, I came back home once more, and went back to working through research of my own, and even reached out to Lexi for help to figure out some of the more precise details that I didn’t know how to work through on my own. Other than that, not much happened.

Tuesday was significantly more interesting. I ended up going on an impromptu lunch date with a boy in my class after institute. We went to lunch at the TSC’s Subway and just chatted for a while. It was pretty fun, even if I wasn’t super interested in him, and I agreed to a second one on Friday, though it never happened since stuff came up. Dallin, the guy, is pretty cool. He has a lot of really interesting hobbies and he was really nice to me, so we’ll see how this goes, even though, like I mentioned before, I’m not super interested in him in any sort of crush. After that I was pretty out of it. I’d never been on a date before, so it was weird to think I’d just gotten through one by the seat of my pants. I ended up not able to focus that well during our discussion of upper and lower motor systems in Neuro, though I did take a lot of notes so that will help studying for next week’s final exam. After that, I met up with Allie since she wanted details about the date, so she took me to Twisted Sugar and we hung out and chatted for a while before coming home and getting back to the usual slog of school work.

Wednesday was nice, but I was still feeling off. I worked through a good chunk of homework and ended up texting on and off with Dallin, though it wasn’t anything crazy. There were no TA hours this week which was a nice break, but I still put together the quiz for next week. We ended up watching Knives Out with the roommates when everyone got back from their own schedules. I love that movie so much, especially with Daniel Craig not acting like Bond. It just makes me laugh. The sorority girls invited guys over right after though to watch scary movies, so I dipped out after grabbing some froyo with my more friendly roommates. I don’t know how these people function though, since the light in the hallway was on, and people making noise, well into the early hours of the morning. Yeesh.

Thursday had Allie coming with me to Institute again, which seems like it will be a thing from now on, which is great. We got lunch afterwards, like always, and even tried a new smoothie place thing. I also had the last of my Neuro class lectures, woooo! Now it’s just the final exam and the presentation. Then I’m golden! And this last chapter won’t even be tested heavily on, which is nice because it was on modulation of movement, and let me tell you, the movement unit was already weird to try and piece together. Modulation of it? A little more higher brain than I was thinking. Later that day after a small crash under my weighted blanket, I went with my roommates to the library again. This also seems like it’s going to become a thing, which I’m totally down for. More scheduled times for specific tasks? Sign me up.  And even later that night, we braved the thunderstorm to go and try Crispy Cones. Was not that impressive, even if it was better than I thought it would be. Stuffing soft-serve in churros is a strange concept, okay?

Friday started rough. Or rather didn’t. Sort of. My car decided it wouldn’t start up, so I ended up attending class from home on zoom. It was fine, and I was actually able to focus more on the material when I wasn’t in the classroom. We worked through more R though, which sucked. I tested the car later, and it seemed to be working then which was just plain annoying. After that I read for a while and worked through more homework, before making pink pasta for dinner around 4:45. We headed to the hockey game around 6:20 so we could see the warm-ups. The game itself was pretty great. It was BSU vs USU, so I won either way, but BSU won in overtime. It was a really chill game all things considered. No fights, just one guy bumping a guy so hard he couldn’t get up for a while a minute into the game. I have a new favorite player—his playing style is just really cool with all the sharp turns and taking hits like a champ. Anyways, my voice was practically gone for the rest of the night, which was fine by me since I went to bed after a small snack.

Saturday was more chill. After cleaning the church, I headed up with Kenzie, Kayla, Brynn, and Karcin to hang out at Brynn’s studio for a good four-ish hours? I don’t actually know how long we were there, but it was a while. We ended up grabbing Morty’s while we were on campus and just hung out. That’s where I finished my final presentation before settling in to catch up on inktober again since I’d let it slip in the past couple of days. When we got home, I took some migraine meds since I was starting to get one, before heading out to hang out with Maren on Sky while everyone else got ready for the hockey game. Apparently I had great timing since I missed the fire alarms going off again. That had me paranoid for the rest of the night though, so it was hard to fall asleep, which ended up making my migraine worse.

I stayed in bed for a long time today, and I’ve been vegging since. I did my institute readings and watched the online lectures for my online wellness class. I’m feeling better but not completely ‘great’ if you know what I mean. Car wasn’t working again today either when I checked, so we’ll see how that goes. So yeah, very low energy week it seems now that I’m looking back at it. Sans Tuesday, I've had low energy even with all the sleep and the hyperness that is coming with that. Weird. Might just be a small slump. Hopefully that is the case. I’m going to call this done and post, so… see you next week!
