MLK Jr. Week

Hey everybody. So like I mentioned earlier, I'm going to see if I can do a weekly post and keep with it, so this is the week I am starting it. This worked pretty well for this week because very little actually happened this week, due to me not having two of my classes, and because it was technically only four days long of school (which is basically the only interesting thing)

So this Monday, I mostly chilled around the apartment. My roommates and I more or less binged all of Cells at Work while I was here, because everyone ended up shipping the main characters (like I called) and we couldn't stop watching it. It was a little nostalgic since it was one of the anime that I started out on in high school, so I was happy. I was a little worked up throughout the day, though, because I don't do well with three day weekends. It's a break in the schedule that I'm used to which puts me on edge, but hey, what can you do, am I right?

Tuesday was my only three class day this week, which was weird. This whole week was kind of weird, and felt like a fever dream. I had Nutrition first thing in the morning and accidently got to class an hour earlier than I meant to because I thought it was my 8:30 class instead of my 9:00 class and it's closer to my dorms. This was nice, because I just worked on my Disability and Society school work since it's my only online class. The assignment this week was about the media portrayals of disabilities in the modern world which meant I got to rant about stuff. It's a really easy class, just like Nutrition. Nutrition was... well, Nutrition. It's a really simple class that i don't learn much in, which will be nice when my other high level classes are kicking my trash, which I'm thinking will start soon, but I'll talk about that later. After Nutrition I had institute, and we're getting to Church Organization stuff, which is interesting to learn about the people behind everything. We apparently have one of the first editions (like 1830 edition) of the Book of Mormon in our Institute Building and we got to look at it, which was awesome. I really like our teacher too, he's really funny, even if he isn't Brother Jacobs. Once institute was done I headed to Epi which this week we're learning about ratios and descriptive statistics behind epidemiology which is pretty basic, and I've been doing pretty well on in class quizzes so I'm happy.

Looking back, I think I combined events from both Thursday and Tuesday into that big paragraph, because I can't differentiate the days, but I can do that with classes. Note to self for personal blog in the future: maybe just do the events in subject form instead of by day. That would make more sense.

So anyways, on Wednesday, I was thrown for a loop because I didn't have either of my labs. Also, Megen is gone in Brazil for her own studies, so one of the other grad students I know gave a small speech on her dissertation subject: Infrared Sensory Systems in snakes that have pits. We learned all about pit organ anatomy and the three specific families who have pit organs, which was cool. I also got to pick her brain about what she knew about how grad school applications work. I emailed my possible teacher adviser today about it, and got some confirmation on some things, so it all worked out even if Hannah didn't have all the information I was looking for.

Biochem was Biochem on both days. I had Maren force me to go to class on Wednesday, because I was already home and didn't want to leave to go to the one class, but I went anyways. I'm still feeling pretty good about what we've been learning but I have my first test on it along with Nutrition and Epi the week after next week, so I guess we'll have to see how prepared I really am (cue anime sweat-drop).

Like I said, Thursday, I think I mixed in events with on Tuesday as stated above.

This Friday was the day that had some out of the usual events. Our institute devotional this week was some triathalon guy who used sports metaphors for the gospel, so I wasn't really great at following it. I really liked last weeks person (an artist) so much better and I felt the spirit more then. So sadness, but hey, I got a raisin oatmeal cookie out of it all. Once my classes were done, though, Maren, Alex, and I all got together and hung out for five hours. It was great. We mostly talked, and watched a little bit of anime. It was awesome. I missed her so much and even though Friday was not a good social day, I had a lot of fun.

So today... I haven't done much, once again. I've been mostly writing today and prepping for next week because I want to start studying for tests sooner rather than later, so yeah... Today's been boring. Maren and Karin have both been busy with each other or dating stuff today, so it's been a little lonely, and I had some really bad cramps today which have made me miserable to be around regardless. So that might be my fault anyways.

Well, talk to you guys next week!
