Hello everybody! I think I’ve forgotten to write recently, and for that I am sorry. My mind has not been on the blog recently so I just kind of forget it’s there. But hey, I remembered this week so that’s a start, right? Before I start, I had a lovely Thanksgiving and it was really awesome to see my family again and get away from Logan for a while. It’s always nice to have a vacation from school, and I’m slowly starting to appreciate them more than I dislike them for changing my usual schedule.
Monday was a lot stranger than usual as I didn’t have class.
Kezia, our teacher, was out doing deer captures to measure disease and stuff so
she said everything would be on canvas (lo and behold it never happened and she
apologized for that). This meant I was able to go early into the lab and get my
brain slicing done. It went well that day and I actually got out of there in
three hours which is pretty good. I came back, had some leftover thanksgiving
thanks to Mom (it was delicious as always), and then hung out on my bed for a while.
I was pretty tired just because sleeping hadn’t been great that night. After
that, I went and worked on my research project and organizing things that I’d
been putting off… which unfortunately turned into a hyper focus moment which
made me accidentally miss my lab meeting. I literally didn’t notice the time until
the meeting was basically all done. I was super embarrassed about that, but I am
normally on top of lab meetings so I think this once was alright. I had been
invited for dinner at Maren’s after the meeting, so I went there and we chatted
for a while. Anna joined on a voice call and showed off some pokemon cards she’d
just barely received which was cool, even though I’m not into cards. After that
Allie was nice enough to give me a ride home, which I repaid her for soon
after, and then I went to bed.
Tuesday sucked, but not as much as Thursday. I woke up at around
5:30 with a really bad migraine that haunted the rest of my day. I went to the
meeting for Andy and was eventually assigned my teaching times for Human
Anatomy lab, before I went straight to brain slicing. Brain slicing didn’t go
well even though I tried my hardest, and I think I can blame it on the migraine
since my hands seemed to fumble a lot more often. I came home eventually, and
worked on my TA responsibilities (last quiz for the semester) as well as
responded to emails. It was pretty brutal, and then I remembered I was actually
meeting Meg for lunch. It was a pretty decent lunch: my pain meds had kicked in
by that point, and we had a lovely chat while we ate Mexican food (El Toro). I
really do like my monthly meet ups with Meg—she’s great. After that, though, I
was pretty done for the day and crashed for the rest of the night since I still
felt like crap.
Wednesday was a little better. I had a headache, but it wasn’t
a migraine. I went into lab and brains turned out very good. I also held the
last Q&A session while I was on the cryostat by myself since Emily was busy
this week. Of course, nobody showed up like usual so it was all good. I got a
lot more done on Wednesday than I did on Tuesday. I was able to finish up my
WILD homework with what videos were up on canvas, even if they weren’t the ones
the teacher said would be there. I ended up texting Maren about some stuff
since she’s in a similar to statistics based course. Eventually that devolved
into me heading to her place and us working on our homework together. We had a
short break when Dream’s newest manhunt video aired (Dream lost to BBH in a
very awesome way). It was super intense, and they were in the nether within the
first minute of the video which is insane. After homework was done, we played
on sky for a bit and finished the last quest for season of flight. I then came
back to the house and chilled until dinner. The night kind of ended up with me
explaining antibiotics, probiotics and how they didn’t kill a person to Kenzie,
but I think she understood eventually.
Thursday was probably the worst day of the week. I had a
wonderful sleep, but apparently my migraine decided to come back with a
vendetta and a vengeance. I had the whole shebang: Nausea, light sensitivity,
giant ice pick to the brain feeling. It sucked a lot. But I still went to
institute since it was the last day that I would be able to make it. I had to
teach during the lesson, which sucked and I really hate doing that, but I was
able to have some quiet time in the lobby to write with my screen brightness on
low. After that, I had the usual lunch ‘date’ with Allie where we grabbed some
Grist Mill and Swig. It didn’t settle as nicely as it usually did so I went and
lied down on my bed for a while again. While I was miserable for a while and
pretty out of commission, I did receive a text that had me giddy. Kayla had Dr.
Hintze as a guest lecture talking about microbiome stuff and said she might ask
me questions if she didn’t get it. I never did hear about anything from her,
but I was pretty secluded that day so that was probably why. Still, it made me
a little excited. I didn’t really emerge until around 8 since I realized I
needed to probably eat dinner. Thus, I had some corn since that seemed simple
enough to keep down, and asked to do family prayer stuff early, which
thankfully happened and I was able to go to bed and be done for the day.
Friday was alright: the migraine was gone, and that’s the
best I could have asked for. Kezia was back by then, so we were able to cover
the material that was missing for the most part and she reminded us that our
final is next week (eeeeegh). So after that was done, I went and turned in my homework
before heading back home. That night was movie night at Maren’s (don’t judge me
for going over a lot this week, Maren wanted to hang out often this week) with
Frozen I and II. It was great. We had the whole Davis 404 crew together plus
Sam and it was a ball. Allie brought some sort of dessert, I brought some mint
chocolate cookies, and Maren and Sam made some really delicious chicken dish.
We were wheezing and laughing pretty much the whole time when we weren’t singing
along or quoting various parts. It was awesome!!! But afterwards, I was pretty
drained so I just came home and crashed once I was back again.
Then it was the weekend. Saturday… was a Saturday. I was not
up to much after all the social stuff the night before, so I was definitely a
homebody. I caught up on some Dream SMP stuff (because it is getting crazy
again oh my gosh the psychological torture yeesh) and finished up my Doctrinal
Approach to Wellness Class since it was self paced. I got to read a lot, which
was awesome. I called my folks before I had to hurry off to a meeting for
Farbecraft. We’re starting Season 3 hopefully around the 20th, so we
had to finalize a lot of decisions about seeds, mods/packs, etc. It was long
and seemed to draw out forever since we’re all chatty with friends, but eventually
it got done. And now it’s Sunday, and I am writing this. I haven’t done much so
I don’t know if there’s anything to report besides not seeing anyone today at
all (I think I’m one of the very few people here for the weekend and not
working). And yeah. Until next time. Bye!
