Today we went to church with Grandma K at the Assisted Living Center in Clearfield on our way out of town. We visited briefly afterwards and got on the road to Logan. We grabbed some lunch at Firehouse Subs on the way into town so we wouldn't have to stop working to eat.
After arriving and unloading the rest of our goods, we set out to complete putting together Janna's room. Max had to move the bed out to get the cinder blocks situated, we had to add more height to the fridge, and he also worked on getting a powerstrip plugged in and usable. We had to make her bed and hang her command board as well. We accomplished quite a bit with our newly added supplies and got her room in order.
When all was done we took Janna to get some groceries at a nearby Smith's. The first thing she grabbed as she walked through the door was an Aggie lanyard, something she'd talked about needing repeatedly. As I turned the grocery cart over to her in the produce section, putting her in control, I struggled as I watched her walk aimlessly as she thought of the few items on her list (bread & milk being two of them). Max and I finally pulled her aside and had her think about what it was that she would need until she could get to a store again. We explained that she had 10 meals a week on her meal plan, but the other 11 meals, she would be responsible for. One hundred dollars later, we were back in the van and off to her dorm to put her food away. She fortunately has plenty of room for storage under her bed, to restock her cupboard as needed.
By this time it was getting late and we still had another 4+ hour drive in front of us. This time it was time for us to say goodbye. I hugged her first, then Max, then me again... then we walked away. I started to cry again as we waited by the elevator to take us down those 7 floors. On our way out of town I was checking Target for some good finds to send her way... just to let her know we were thinking about her. As we drove, Max would occasionally say something that would get me emotional all over again. We may or may not have called her several times along the way...
She called to have family prayer and scripture study, but we had to deal with Mason and some job issues, so it was only a prayer tonight, a prayer to keep her safe and me out of jail (dang Sonic)!
