Hey everybody!
Today seemed to fluctuate between extremes a lot: one moment I would be tired and then the next I would be happy and excited. It started out early in the morning, as I woke up at 6:30 so that I would have enough time to 'wake up' and get dressed to go to have breakfast for the first time at the Junction with Alex. I found out that they had a lot of the usual breakfast buffet stuff, so I went with a good meal of eggs (under-salted, but hey, can't all be perfect), bacon (a must have for breakfast and was delicious because it's freaking bacon), peach juice (gosh I love that stuff so much), and two small blueberry muffins (which were to die for!). Soon, Alex had to leave for Connections, so I was once again left by my lonesome.
The next order of business was for me to do a "small" hike to the Burdge Clinic (1.6 miles away using roads, but I had to walk in places where there was a side walk so... don't know how far but it felt pretty far away), where I will be attending therapy, to both time how long it gets there, and to find where it was generally. So after walking down the hill and wandering around the hospital parking lot, I finally found the Clinic itself . Apparently, therapy is on the third floor of the actual hospital, which I found kind of weird, but okay. After getting some paperwork to fill out, I was soon back on my way to campus. The only thing was that, now that I was at the bottom of the hill, I had to climb up. It was so exhausting! Logan seems to have two different stories to the town, one up on the giant hill, and one below. It sucks when you have to go from the bottom up when it is already a 30 minute walk from the closest end of Campus. Needless to say, I was pooped.
After that I still had some other things to look into, mostly general information, like where bus stops were and residency requirements. So, I spent a fair amount of time just researching what I needed for those. Soon, it was an acceptable time to head off to lunch. I tried the stir fry here, it wasn't too impressive, but it was still food. After lunch I spent a fair amount of time writing and texting my friends once again. It was soon 3:30, when I go to get the mail, and as I headed downstairs, Mom let me know that I would be getting three packages. As I had only been told about the toaster coming today, I was a bit confused, but thought that maybe something else had come a little early. When I got my packages (saying hi to the poor girl who gives out the mail again) I was even more confused at the small sack-like package that was obviously carrying clothing in it.
I hurried up to my room so I could look at the gift. Lo and behold, when I opened it I almost squealed. Mom got me a hufflepuff shirt (which I will so be wearing tomorrow)! I then opened the next smaller package, knowing the toaster was in the biggest one, only to find yet another t-shirt (one with an Dumbledore quote, and I was a little less excited, as most of my family will tell you, I do NOT like Dumbledore, but even I have to admit he gives some okay advice) as well as a box fully of junk food! My mom is the bombdiggity! I sent her so much thanks for it, and also sent her a quick pick of the toaster, but it got me buzzing with excitement. I sent a few texts off to my friends about my new loot (getting a lot of "no, Janna" from Phoebe concerning the gummy bears my mom gave me), and had an enjoyable rest of the afternoon, drawing a bit.
Finally it was dinner time, and I was once again able to hang out with Alex. I got this delicious dinner too! It was sour cream potatoes with what I think was pepper flakes, as well as herb corn hen and a dinner roll. It was really tasty, and I have to say that I hope they serve it again sometime soon. Somehow, Alex and I were soon on a discussion about Harry Potter (probably due to the t-shirts but I can't really remember) and we both found that we agreed on a number of things: Sirius and Remus are our favorite marauders, Dumbledore is not a good person, Newt Scamander and his creatures are adorable, and that we both loved it when we were able to visit Harry Potter amusement parks (she has gone to Harry Potter World, while I've gone to Harry Potter Land). This discussion was a disorganized mess of Harry Potter headcannons and opinions and it was the most fun conversation that I've had with a Harry Potter fan in a while (sorry Dad, you just don't seem to be quite on my level of fangirling over the series as Alex is). We had so much fun that we're going to continue the conversation tomorrow at breakfast, due to the fact that Alex had to leave to get some work done in her dorms before her roommates distracted her.
I then returned home and spent some time reading and chilling until it was time to get ready for bed and have family scriptures and prayer over the phone. Overall, lots of up and down moments. I wouldn't have it any other way!
