Something Be Wrong With the Greeks

Hello everyone!

There was a whole lot of little things that happened today. To begin with, I set out to figure out where the campus' pool was. It turned out that it wasn't going to be really available until the Fall Semester, but I'm excited to go swimming when I do have the time. This then led to me watching (as I returned to my dorm from a quick overview of where my classes were once again) hail fall from the sky with lightning and thunder following it. Not my most favorite part of the morning, especially with one of the neighbors flipping out over it down the hall (mostly swearing). Below is a meh picture that I was able to take while it was hailing. I don't think it was actually successful at capturing the hail, but I tried.

I spent a little time drawing and texting my friends (Dani and Phoebe) while I waited for lunch to roll around. I knew that my on campus friends would be busy for most of the day, so I left for lunch on my own and was able to grab some of the chicken alfredo with bacon that Hannah said was good. I have to agree with her that it was pretty delicious considering I ate it up quickly, before heading back to the dorms. I even pulled a "normal teenager" and took a picture of my food to share with you guys.

After a little time (read 1-2 hours) of writing and getting started on some pre-lab stuff for the Organic Chemistry lab next week, I decided to check the mail for my package to find that, while the package itself had arrived, the office lady would be gone until half an hour later. Good thing that I needed to pick up some goggles and a lab coat (which I, in a forgetful moment, had left back in Boise) from the Taggart Center on the other side of campus, so I went to go grab that. I got a little distracted by the giant art supply section right next to the science lab materials, but was soon on my way around 20 bucks later. By the time that I got back, I was able to get yet another package from the nice lady at the desk. We joked about how by the end of the week we would be on a first name basis after I let her know that there would probably be plenty more where that came from. It was a fun, if not embarrassing, conversation.

I then went back to writing and looking a little bit more into other locations I would have to know where to find. Logan went through about another two short rain storms during that time period, which really cooled the area down to a nice temperature so I let my window open (the three inches I'm able to). I had made plans with Alex and Kamryn to eat dinner with them at the Junction again, now that they weren't busy with their class and it was a lot of fun to eat and talk. I learned that both of them are really good at procrastinating, both having stayed up most of the night to write a short 250 word report assigned at the beginning of the week. Alex also shared a hilarious story of when she visited an archaeology museum in Greece.

Apparently there is a crypt/coffin belonging to a family that was shaved down generation out of generation into a new coffin/crypt. It started out as an old married couple, then a few generations it ended with a young man. The only problem was that the coffin had been cut down too much over time that the people just decided to take the head off of the previous predecessor (a very attractive lady in a seductive pose) and put the guys face there. This led to both Alex and her dad erupting into a fit of giggles where they nearly peed themselves laughing so hard while getting strange looks from the locals at the museum. They apparently told a party of some more tourists from America about the thing, and it led to most of the tourists in the same predicament of uncontrollable laughter. It's a lot funnier the way she tells it, and it had both Kamryn and I in hysterics ourselves as she told us about her "Favorite Transvestite Statue of All Time" (forgive me if that is insulting, it's mostly her words, not mine).

(Also, I asked if I could take Alex's picture so you know what she looks like, so here it is below)

This led to even more stories being passed around about our most funniest moments (most of which for me involved my commentary in History and English class). Overall, it was a very enjoyable dinner, and we made plans to try and meet up for breakfast in the morning. I went home afterwards, both Kamryn and Alex looking ready to pass out for want of sleep. I dilly-dallyed for a while before getting ready for bed and got to speak with my whole family for the first time in a while. Mason needs to stop being at work so we can do family scripture time!

It was a good end to the day, but I'm getting a little tired now, so I think I'll end this here. Good night!
