We Have Lift Off

Today was the day I'd been dreading for weeks! There was no turning back... housing had been paid for and it was time to take Little Miss to USU. Mas had Youth Conference he had to be to at 8:30, as well as work this weekend so he said his quick goodbyes on his way out. I got a little teary eyed as I watched them hug, knowing it would be awhile before they would see each other again. After Mas left, Janna went out to play with Penny. That made me emotional as well. I could see Janna was fighting back her emotions as I walked by her room, she was standing there, just looking around, soaking it all in.

Most of her items placed in the "holding cell" waiting to be put into the van.
We'd loaded my parents van the night before, so we were able to head out as soon as we packed a few last minute items. We were on the road by 9a. We stopped for Chick-fil-a in Twin, ordering the usual. Janna had a peach shake. She remarked, "Shakes are good for the soul!" Ice cream can have that effect on some people. We then continued on to Logan, arriving just after 2p.

We got her checked in and she received her key. We went upstairs to her room, finding her roommate there with her mom. They were just finishing up. After a few brief words, including the mention of how hot it was in the room, then we went to work unloading the van and her roommate left to check out the laundry facilities in the basement.

"Shakes are good for the soul!" - Janna
We soon learned we weren't equipped to handle the outdated building with all of our modern conveniences, leaving things in disarray, we headed out to "get more supplies". After a trip to TJ Maxx and the local Home Depot, we headed back to the dorm, in hopes to getting things a little more situated. By this time we knew it would be a 2 day task. We discovered the bed frame was just some wires that had been welded together and Max had some concern having Janna sleep on it (along with the rubber mattress). Max had called RC Willey while at Home Depot and arranged to pick up a bunk board as we headed back to civilization. We also had other items we needed to find. So we put things together as much as we could and were resolved to the fact that we were going to need to call it a night.

The two things that got us down was the fact that the room was only equipped with two electrical outlets, both of which were attached to lighting units, and one of the plug-ins was attached to a light that would need to remain on if you wanted to use the power outlet. A major hang up as well with this was the fact that Janna's fridge needed to be plugged in directly to an outlet. The second thing was the heat. It was unbearably hot in her room and her fan needed to be assembled before we could use it. Of course we didn't have a screwdriver, so Max used a knife to tighten it to the best of his ability. When we talked to the RAs about the room temperature we were told that nothing could be done about it, the thermostat was set as low as it could be. (It was over 80 in her room, and we were able to get it to "cool down" to 78 after running the fan for several hours, including while we were gone.)

We had a clock to beat, as RC Willey closed at 9p, so we grabbed some food at Arby's and drove on to Syracuse for our bed part. We then hit the Layton Target to grab the remaining items. We arrived at Brian's about 10:30ish where we were greeted by Meag-o. We chatted, shared our tales, and went to bed. We were all exhausted.
