Club Fair

Hey Everybody!

So today was a little bit more chill when it came to classes, which kind of set the mood for the day. When I woke up this morning, it was nice to just lay about in bed for a while, since I didn't have class until 10:30. So, during this time I ate some oatmeal (so good!), and worked a little ahead in Chemistry so I won't have as much homework this weekend when my family comes up to Utah for a visit (also really excited about that. I've only been gone two weeks, but I miss them already). It was a little more challenging the farther I went into the readings for the week, but it wasn't super bad. Then I had to head to the class itself.

Today I once again sat with Natalie (she let me know that she was starting to get over the crush on the other guy as she actually interacted with him a bit and is now finding him lacking. I know. Very confusing). In class, we actually got started with the material we would be learning, and I have to say, the teacher knows how to have a quick lecture. He was speaking really fast, and it became a little harder to follow the more he tried to squeeze in as the time for class ran down. I thankfully understood a fair amount of what he was talking about, except for some stuff at the end. I was able to ask him questions at the end of class though, so I'm feeling a little more sure in my knowledge.

I didn't have a class after then until 1:30, so my plan was to head home when I remembered that there was a little Club Fair on the Quad, where different clubs and other places would be. I decided to see if they were there yet, and sure enough they were. It was getting hot at this time, so it wasn't super fun to walk up and down the rows and look at clubs, but I think it was worth it. I found a lot of information that I was interested in. What has to take the cake however were the two 'fun clubs' that I found. The first shocker was the fact that there was a medieval club nearby and that I could sign up for them to send me information about classes and events without having to be a full time member. I of course, just got the website, which was listed on the pamphlet, as I wasn't sure about them sending me emails all the time. It sounds super cool though! They do cool stuff like metal work, sewing time period outfits, re-enactments, full on brawls (where you have to wear the whole gear, even chainmail and a freaking gorget), and archery. It sounds like a lot of fun for when I get super bored (if that ever happens).

The second shocker was the fact that USU has a quidditch team. A quidditch team! You can sign up for a day to play, or join in whenever you want, plus watch the games. How cool is that?! I freaking love Harry Potter and seeing a whole booth for that just made my day (plus the guy complimented my Hufflepuff shirt so that was great. He was a Slytherin and his buddy was a Ravenclaw- and no, I didn't get their names). After that I just did a bit of wandering, grabbing information on undergrad research and the science department, picking up a volleyball thing for my roommate, since I know that was something she was interested in (she thanked me for it and that made me feel pretty proud of myself, I will admit), and snatching a schedule for the Hockey season. Guess what? The first game is on my birthday! (Might go as a birthday present to myself, but I'll have to see how much it costs and what the schedule is like for me that day) I was planning on avoiding it, but I have to admit, it was pretty great, so I'm glad I went.

On the way back I stopped for a quick bit to eat at the Junction, trying the Chicken Alfredo Pizza there was well as the pepperoni. It was okay, but I've had better. Finally, after getting back to the dorm I was able to sit down and work on my actual Chemistry homework. I had come to find out in lecture that there is pre-lecture homework, which is the one I finished earlier that morning. However, there is also "homework" homework, which is separate. So I started this, and ended up getting frustrated half-way through. Thankfully, it was time for Stats Recitation, so I just walked over to the Aggie Ice Cream building and went to class. Now, the one thing I have to say about my teacher for that is that... he's rather flamboyant? Okay, maybe I don't know how to describe him. He has that voice that my mother always talks about on the cooking tv shows. It was really weird. The guy had us play a Kahoot. A freaking Kahoot! It was really weird, I felt like I was in high school again as a sophomore with that one Computer Teacher Lady that I can't remember the name of.

Soon, the recitation was over and I was able to head home. This time, the chemistry homework actually made sense and I was able to finish the assignment with a solid A. Feeling pretty proud, I was able to head off to dinner with a feeling of pride. Today they were serving breakfast for dinner at the Marketplace, so I had a slice of French Toast with eggs, bacon, and potatoes O'Brian. It was pretty good, definitely something I would have again (the biscuits and gravy looked weird, so I didn't grab any). After that, Hannah and I walked back and got back to work, me going over my ASL for the day, and working on the rest of Chapter 1 reading for tomorrow's class.

So yeah. That was my day.
